Just a brief note to say WELCOME!  It is my hope to make learning to play an instrument an enjoyable
challenge.  Frankly, your progress will depend upon YOU.  During each lesson, a method, a ‘lick’ or even an
entire tune will be covered.  You will do the “working out” of that lesson during the week in between your next
lesson.  Each time, we will build on what you have learned and continue until you have mastered the method,
‘lick’ or tune.  I do not claim to be an expert by any means, but I do love BLUEGRASS and hope that my
influence on you will be a positive and rewarding one so that you too will enjoy many years playing and
entertaining others!  Please take what you learn from me, master it and then advance using the many tools
available through additional music books, the internet or other great masters of the art.

If you would like to get to know me better, read
MY BIO about how I was introduced to Bluegrass.  And to hear a
sample bluegrass tune where I play all four instruments, look below on this page.

The fee for beginner FIDDLE/MANDOLIN/5 STRING BANJO/GUITAR lessons is
$20 per half hour lesson.
Should you decide you are ready to begin the extremely rewarding challenge of playing FIDDLE, MANDOLIN, 5
STRING BANJO or GUITAR, you will find my available time slots and my policies regarding lessons on this page.
Teaching Policies

  • All payments should be made preferably in cash at the beginning of each lesson.
  •  I do not accept checks weekly for lessons, but I do accept a check if you are paying for the
ENTIRE month.  (Understand that should you pay for the entire month, and miss a lesson, I
will not provide a refund for the missed lesson.  I will try to accommodate you with a make-
    up lesson however.)
  • Should lessons fall on a holiday, I will provide you with a make-up date ahead of time.
  • Lesson Cancellations:  I simply ask that you be seriously minded about lessons…...Like
many things in life, it is a commitment of sorts.  You simply will get out of it what you put into
it.  Please give me as much notice (via email or my cell phone) as you can.  I do understand
that there are things that pop up that make it an inconvenience, so keep this in mind.
  • Should you cancel lessons regularly, or fail to give me notice (no show), your time slot may
    be given to another student.
  • Late arrivals:  If you arrive late for a lesson you forfeit the missed minutes.
  • Be prepared for your lesson, have a folder or a binder that can be used to keep hand-outs
or other music I may give to you.
  • It is likely that I will want you to purchase your own music instruction book.  This is roughly
around $15 and can be ordered online or at a local music store.  I do sometimes provide
‘hand-out’ material, so please do keep a folder of some sort for your lessons.

Our place is the second home on the LEFT.

The Studio is the 24 x 24 building on the West side of our property.  The entry door is on the Left side of
the Studio.  You may come in and wait in the Waiting Room until your lesson time if you wish.  That will
give you time to tune your instrument prior to your lesson.
